Terms of Service
These terms govern use of Hermes - Google Apps Connector. By authorizing the Application against a Google Account, the Operator accepts them.
1. The Application
Hermes - Google Apps Connector ("the Application") is a private, self-hosted Google Workspace integration that allows a single individual ("the Operator") to connect their own Google Account to their own Hermes assistant. The Application is personal software, operated by its single user for their own account.
The Application has exactly one authorized user. It has no registration or sign-up, and no other person is permitted to authorize or use it.
2. Acceptance
By granting the Application access to a Google Account, the Operator confirms that they are the owner of that account, that they have authority to authorize such access, and that they accept these terms.
3. License and permitted use
The Operator is granted a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive right to run the Application on infrastructure they control, for their own personal productivity purposes, in connection with their own Google Account.
The Operator agrees not to:
- Use the Application to access any Google Account they do not own or are not authorized to access.
- Distribute, sublicense, resell, or make the Application available to any other person.
- Use the Application to build profiles of, monitor, or collect data about other people.
- Use the Application or Google APIs to create, request, store, or distribute AI-generated non-consensual intimate imagery (AI NCII), or for any other purpose prohibited by Google's API Services User Data Policy or applicable Google product policies.
- Use the Application in violation of any applicable law or regulation.
- Circumvent, or attempt to circumvent, any Google API quota, rate limit, or access control.
4. Third-party services and Google's terms
The Application uses Google APIs. Use of those APIs is also governed by Google's own terms and policies, including the Google APIs Terms of Service and the Google API Services User Data Policy. Where these terms conflict with Google's, Google's terms govern the use of Google APIs.
Where the Operator's assistant relies on a third-party language model provider, that provider's terms also apply to that portion of the processing.
5. Operator responsibilities
- The Operator is responsible for the security of the machine on which the Application and its credentials are stored.
- The Operator is responsible for the actions they instruct the Application to take on their Google Account, including any email sent, event created, or file modified or deleted.
- The Operator is responsible for reviewing the output of any automated or AI-assisted action before relying on it.
- The Operator is responsible for maintaining backups of their own Google data.
6. No warranty
The Application is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. No warranty is given that the Application will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will not cause unintended changes to Google Account data.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the author of the Application shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to the use of or inability to use the Application, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
8. Suspension and termination
The Operator may stop using the Application at any time, and may revoke its access to their Google Account at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Revocation ends the Application's access immediately. The Operator may also delete the Application and its locally stored credentials from their own machine at any time.
9. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated to reflect changes in the Application or in applicable policy. The effective date at the top of this page will be revised when they change, and the current version will always remain available at this URL. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
